As of 1998, two abandoned vessels lie in the vicinity of the Penrice salt pans — the “No.1.” or “Penrice” hulk, a vessel used to shore up the salt plans, and reputedly to store gunpowder, and the nearby Dorothy S.

During kayak reconnaissance in 1999 it was noted that at low tide Barker Inlet (close to Port Adelaide, South Australia) is littered with the remains of small wooden watercraft (identities unknown).
