Order of Business
Each CTE member and each NCATE and SDPI representative introduced themselves. Dr. Covington gave an overview, the challenge, and the charge of the CTE committee.
Current priorities of the council were discussed and how different program areas meet diversity issues in the classroom and through coursework. Members discussed how dispositions were developed and how a common assessment tool is being used in all program areas.
The governmental structure of the committee and how policy is set and disseminated was discussed. The committee relates to student learning, student issues, and programs, not faculty issues. An Advisory Council or Faculty Senate presides over faculty matters.
How program areas focus on technology was discussed. A technology course is required for admission to teacher education and one is required for exiting. It is also a component of the portfolio, required of interns. Program courses may differ, but they still meet the same standards and curriculum.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 3:45 p.m. The next meeting for the academic year 2005-2006 will be March 20, 2006 due to Spring Break the week of the 13th.
Respectfully submitted,
