Welcome to the ECU History/Social Studies Education residency support website for edTPA! The purpose of this website is to provide you with an overview of the edTPA assessment in history/social studies as well as to share resources that we have created/identified here at ECU that might help you be successful in completing the edTPA assessment. Most of these resources are resources that we provide to our students in our History/Social Studies Education program here at ECU and we wanted you to have them too, as someone completing your residency requirements through ECU. Below you will find a link to an overview video describing the rationale for using edTPA as a programmatic assessment and some of the general ins-and-outs of edTPA (starting with the idea that you should first read the handbook carefully!). You will then see ways to access three other pages for tasks 1-3. Each task webpage will include a brief instructional video about how to approach and what to think about in that task, and then a set of resources that will help you in completing each task. WE SUGGEST THAT YOU ACCESS THESE RESOURCES WELL IN ADVANCE OF COMPLETING YOUR EDTPA TO ASSURE YOU ARE PREPARED AND AWARE OF THE NUANCES OF THE ASSESSMENT. Best wishes!
