Intro – Kara Threatt

Hi everyone! Happy New Year!

My name is Kara Threatt. I am a Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Operations Assistant Director for the Department of Surgery at Duke. As part of my roles for the last 25 years at Duke, I supervise about 25 Advanced Practice Providers as well as work closely with physician leaders. This is what spurred me to seek out the MBA program and Healthcare Management certificate. I am a lifelong learner, I just completed my Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) at ECU. It was such a great program, I immediately felt ECU MBA made sense! When I am not working or studying, I am wrangling my family which includes 5 kiddos (22, 20, 17, and 5 year old twins). I am excited for this class as it is my love (occasional hate) language of healthcare!

  1. Hi Dr. Threatt,
Welcome to COHE 6000. Congratulations on earning your DNP here at ECU and looking forward to your contributions to the course blog this semester. Your work and life experience as a clinical practitioner should help inform us about potential approaches for improving our health care system.
