Introduction – Kate Freed

Hi everyone! My name is Kate Freed. I currently work for ECU Campus Recreation and Wellness as the Assistant Director of Fitness. I also run my own online health and fitness coaching business. I graduated from Clemson University in 2020 with a degree in Communication and began working toward my Master’s of Public Health here at ECU Brody School of Medicine in Fall 2021. My MPH concentration is Community Health & Health Behavior. My graduate degree will help me in my current position and future careers to better understand health beliefs and attitudes. Having a better understanding of the American health care system, which I will gain from this course is a key part of this.

I look forward to learning in this course and hearing more about everyone!

  1. Hi Ms. Freed,
Thanks for your intro message and welcome to the course.

I agree that what we all can do in terms of promoting and protecting our personal health will go a very long way in preserving and bolstering a state of health that transcends simply being free of disease.

I suspect our health care system would benefit from the infusion of good communicators/counselors who can help folks reach a state of physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
I bet there is plenty of research that demonstrates such folks tend to have lower rates of illness and less need for contact with the health care system compared to the rest of us still seeking that state of Nirvana!
