- Caption: This set of award ribbons was owned by Admiral Thomas C. Kinkaid, a naval officer during World War II. He participated in the Pacific Theater of the War, serving under Chester W. Nimitz and fighting at Coral Sea and Midway. His Ribbons include but are not limited to: The Navy Distinguished Service Medal with 1 silver star and 2 gold stars, The Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal with 2 silver stars, and the WWII Victory Medal. These ribbons denote his service to the US Navy, showing his lengthy career dedicating himself to his country. Once again, the use of these ribbons is meant to honor those who serve in the armed forces and protect the US from foreign threats.

2. Medal of Honor (Peter Tomich)

- Description: 5-point bronze star medal with a pin designed as an anchor.
- Accession #: NHHC 1979-2-B
- Location: Headquarters Artifact Collection, Naval History and Heritage Command
- Caption: The Medal of Honor is a distinguished service medal given to members of the US navy to commemorate their service (alive or dead). This Particular Star was posthumously awarded to Peter Tomich, who sacrificed himself to save others during the sinking of the USS Utah at Pearl Harbor. The front of the medal is tipped with trefoils with twigs of laurel and oak engraved. In the center, the Roman goddess of War, Minerva is holding a shield with the escutcheon of the United States. This is most likely used to represent their commitment to the defense of their country.
