Moby Dick Reading Marathon. January 8, 2017

The New Bedford Whaling Museum seeks to advance the understanding of the whaling industry and the port of New Bedford through history, economy, ecology, arts, and cultures of the region. In addition to gaining knowledge on New Bedford’s relationship to the whaling industry, the museum now serves as the center for the history of the global whaling industry with collections ranging from countries such as the Netherlands, Canada, and Japan. The museum prides itself on expanding their ability to tell the stories of the many diverse communities that shared in the creation of this history, through their excellence in collections management, conservation, scholarship, and all forms of public outreach. The museum serves its community but welcomes a large growing number of national and international visitors.
