Welcome to the MetFlex research study. We are happy to have you!

MetFlex is short for, “Metabolic inflexibility is related to elevated muscle anaerobic glycolysis.”

The goal of MetFlex is to look at differences in muscle metabolism between people that do not have obesity and people that do have obesity. Metabolism is how your muscles convert food and water into energy. We want to determine if some individuals are more likely than others to become obese based on their metabolism. If this were true, one day there could be a simple test run to determine someone’s likelihood of becoming obese.

We are a research study based out of East Carolina University, and we are being funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

You will be paid up to $1,200 for your participation.
