Kenya has made efforts to implement the preservation of underwater cultural heritage (UCH). The country has developed capacities in maritime and underwater cultural heritage through the training of underwater archaeologists and establishment of an underwater artifact conservation laboratory. NMK has designed a maritime archaeological programme for the study of this heritage as well as a database of all shipwrecks in the country.
