Why Team Science?
A team is a group of people with different competencies and roles, who work together to achieve a common vision. Which addresses the following:
- Need for better collaboration
- Unclear or complex problems or solutions
- Multiple, varied, and vested stakeholders
- Need for an understanding of interactions
- Environment, health, genome, biome
- Increased scientific specialization
By embedding team science within undergraduate research experiences we will support the development of transportable team competencies (KSA).
KNOWLEDGE: Deeper conceptual understanding of topics and methods to solve problems within and across disciplines.
SKILLS: Capabilities for interdisciplinary work and teamwork.
ATTITUDES: Valuing interdisciplinary collaboration and supporting the inclusion of different perspectives.

Team Science Ice Breaker. Students were categorized into two different teams. They were asked to solve a math problem, find the sheet number corresponding to their answer, and stand in queue with orders 1 to 9, prewritten on the sheet. Our primary goal of team building was achieved. It was a lot of fun and learning for all of us.
