AIHA ECU Student Section Attends and Presents at the AIHA Carolinas Spring Conference 2018

Four members of the AIHA ECU Student Section with their faculty adviser, Dr. Jo Anne Balanay, attended the AIHA Carolinas Spring Conference from March 8-9, 2018 in Cary, NC. In the conference, the students listened to IH and related presentations, and interacted with various IH and safety professionals/ practitioners and vendors.

BS Public Health Studies (Environmental Health minor) honors student, Kellyn Reese, gave an oral presentation of her Senior Honors Project (SHP) titled “Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Emission in a University Printing Press Facility in Eastern North Carolina”, for which Dr. Balanay served as research mentor and Ogaga Tebehaevu (ECU Office of Environmental Health and Safety) as co-mentor. Rene Vanek (BSEH 2017) also attended the conference and is now the Outreach Committee chair of the AIHA Carolinas Local Section. It is great to see the ECU EHS Program well-represented in this conference.
