Getting Started with Email An employee’s Exchange account includes email, calendar, contacts, tasks and more. This information is maintained on the server for 24/7 access, on or off campus. To access the inbox through a browser, users can log in to piratemail.ecu.edu. Email setup
Accomodations – The mission of the Department for Disability Support Services is to provide individuals with disabilities support that will enable them to access programs, services, facilities, and activities of the university and to enhance disability awareness among all constituents of the university.
Proctoring – Distance Education Proctoring is housed within the Office of Continuing Studies. It offers test proctoring services to students enrolled in distance education classes at East Carolina University, and other universities within the University of North Carolina system. The ECU DE Proctoring Center is a state of the art facility that ensures integrity in the proctoring and examination processes. ALL exams must be pre-scheduled. UNC Online Proctoring Services
Cornerstone Training – Cornerstone is a training management system for ECU. Permanent employees register for instructor-led training (ILT), online modules and assigned training sessions through this portal. From the personalized training page, employees can print a certificate of completion, browse for training, create a waitlist and more.
lynda.com – Students, faculty, and staff have access to lynda.com, an online library of over 129,000 instructional videos teaching the latest software tools and skills. lynda.com provides both short tutorials, full-length courses, and hands-on project files.
WordPress – WordPress is an open-source Web application designed for creating blogs. WordPress allows users to create both static and dynamic Web pages. ECU has its own WordPress server, and space is available to faculty, staff, students, departments and groups for personal blogs or academic sites.
WordPress can be used in courses to provide interaction between faculty and students. It can also be used with departments and groups to share information and updates on projects.
Turning Point – Audience Response System – Audience response devices, or Clickers, are designed to actively engage students during the entire class period, gauge students’ level of understanding of presented material, and provide prompt feedback to the instructor, who can easily upload a grade to Blackboard from polled responses (TurningPoint software required).
