Environmental Health students, faculty and staff attended today the “Climate Change and Health Symposium: Focus on Eastern North Carolina” held at the East Carolina Heart Institute.  The following presented their posters as follows:

• Nwanne Agada, MS Environmental Health student – “Duration of Effectiveness of Permethrin-Treated Clothing Against Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti Mosquitoes After Repeated Washing”
• Avian White, EHS Program laboratory personnel – “Insecticide Susceptibility Testing of Culex and Aedes Mosquitoes in the United States”

The aim of the symposium is to raise awareness among healthcare professionals and students on the effects of climate change on human health, with a focus on vulnerable populations on Eastern North Carolina.  The event was hosted by the ECU Brody School of Medicine, Department of Public Health and the ECU Office of Sustainability, and was generously supported by friends at Clean Air Carolina and NC State University, Center for Human Health and the Environment.
