Dear Miss Liza,

I seem to remember a school was closed a couple of years ago and the Friday night football games cancelled due to something called the Norovirus.  Do you remember that? My nephew is the starting quarterback on his high school team. Is there something he can do to prevent the Norovirus and maybe win a game this year? The team was 0-9 last year.

Yes, I remember! It started midweek with many students and teachers calling in sick (over 900 from county schools by the end of the week)… and yes, Friday Night Football games were cancelled. That Norovirus is a Nasty Dude! Tell your nephew, his teammates, coaches and cheerleaders (bless their hearts) to wash their hands frequently. Hand washing with soap and warm water for 15 seconds is the most effective means of preventing the spread of viral illnesses… AND tell your nephew to STOP THROWING INTERCEPTIONS!!!
