Dr. Stephanie Richards received her 3rd year of funding for a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant titled, “Preventing Lyme Disease Exposure Among Outdoor Workers.” The funding for year 3 totals $30,760, which brings her total award to $86,753. This study is being conducted in collaboration with principal investigators and researchers at the University of Rhode Island and the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. As contribution to this big study, Dr. Richards works with Dr. Jo Anne Balanay to conduct experiments and analyses involving identification and quantification of permethrin (an active ingredient in insecticides) in clothing worn by outdoor workers.
