Dr. Jo Anne Balanay and Dr. Stephanie Richards gave their own presentations today at the 1st Quarterly Meeting of the North Central Environmental Health District (NCEHD). Dr. Balanay gave a presentation on her current research on heat stress titled, “Comparison between OSHA-NIOSH Heat Safety Tool App and WBGT Monitor to Assess Heat Stress Risk in Agriculture” in the morning. Dr. Stephanie Richards gave a presentation on her pesticide research titled, “Insecticide Resistance” in the afternoon. MS Environmental Health alumna, Jordan Mazzara, currently serves as the Vice President of NCEHD and works as an Environmental Health Specialist at Durham County Department of Public Health.
The NCEHD is an educational district of the Environmental Health Section of the North Carolina Public Health Association (NCPHA). It is an association of Environmental Health Specialists, Environmental Health Specialist Interns, Soil Scientists, and others and is organized and operated to promote greater public health benefits through good environmental practices in North Carolina, while building sustainable partnerships outside of the State.
