BS Environmental Health Student Invited in 2022 Virtual Summer NEHA Internship Program

Samson Strickland, BS Environmental Health student, received an offer for a virtual internship position for the Summer 2022 National Environmental Public Health Internship Program (NEPHIP). The NEPHIP is a 400-hour (~10-week) paid internship opportunity that links environmental health undergraduate and graduate students from environmental health academic programs accredited by the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council (EHAC), with funded internship placements at qualified state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) environmental public health agencies. The internship is designed to allow students to gain a firsthand perspective on the day-to-day responsibilities of environmental health professionals, make invaluable connections with those working in the field, and consider careers working in state, tribal, local, or territorial environmental health departments following graduation.

To ensure student safety in relation to COVID-19, the 2022 summer internships will be virtual. The National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) offers several virtual tools to help support virtual internships, including an online community platform for all NEPHIP interns. Projects will be completed remotely using virtual tools through direction provided by health department.

NEPHIP is supported by the National Center for Environmental Health of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
