MS Environmental Health student, Melissa Nolan, is the recipient of the 2022 North Carolina Public Health Association (NCPHA) Environmental Health Scholarship. The award is a $300-scholarship given to one ECU student and one Western Carolina University (WCU) student with a GPA of 3.0 or above. Melissa has an overall GPA of 3.8. She has worked as a graduate research assistant on a project involving insecticide resistance in mosquitos and has also been recognized for her work on wastewater testing for COVID-19 in residence halls on ECUs campus to protect the health of the campus community. She has also previously served as a 6th and 7th grade science teacher and the department chair.
Melissa was also an Environmental Health Section Scholarship recipient in 2021.
