Jarrod Underwood graduated from the ECU MS Environmental Health program in 2020 after getting his Bachelor’s degree from ECU in Biology. Following graduation, Jarrod worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Mayo Clinic. This role piqued his interest in exposure science as his focus areas included leukemias and other disorders of the blood. Jarrod also worked for East Carolina University for three and a half years where he gained experience performing chemical safety assessments and reviewing toxicological properties of substances used for animal testing. Jarrod now works as an EHS specialist at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Greenville, North Carolina where he manages and leads the site’s industrial hygiene program. More recently, Jarrod has been building the site’s biological safety committee and program. Jarrod continues to be driven by his passion for exposure toxicology and understanding the properties and impacts of different chemical compounds.
In his spare time, Jarrod enjoys working out and spending quality time with his children.
