Dr. Avian White (Principal Investigator), Dr. Jo Anne Balanay, and Dr. Stephanie Richards received a $14,994 award from the Central Appalachian Regional Education and Research Center (CARERC) for a project titled, “Survey of Occupational Hazards Among Mosquito Control Personnel.” They will survey workers in both public (local health departments) and private pest control companies to investigate occupational health and safety hazards along with current preventative measures. They plan to use the findings from this study to help develop educational materials that may be used by vector control personnel.
