The North Carolina Mosquito and Vector Control Association (NCMVCA) hosted their annual conference from November 15-17, 2023 at Carolina Beach, NC. The conference had 90 attendees representing 23 counties across NC and also some from other states (VA, FL and UT). Attendees included students and professors from universities, county Environmental/Public Health, city Public Works, and private industry.
Continuing education units (CEUs) were offered for REHS and Pesticide Applicator licensing. This meeting is always a great opportunity for mosquito programs to make connections across the state and add to their knowledge and training on mosquito borne disease and mosquito control methods.
Dr. Avian White gave a presentation titled “Lightning Round: Most interesting thing I have seen in vector control”. She was the Vice President for NCMVCA in 2023 and will be President starting in 2024. Dr. Stephanie Richards serves as the longstanding Treasurer of NCMVCA.
