Dr. Charlie Humphrey recently received a $9,986 grant funding from Sound Rivers for his research study titled “Erosion Estimates at West Craven Middle School”. Erosion along a drainageway at West Craven Middle School will be evaluated before and after implementation of a stormwater control measure. The drainageway is beginning to exhibit erosion (soil loss). In an effort to reduce erosion, a regenerative stormwater conveyance will be constructed in the drainageway after preliminary monitoring and a design are completed. Using the grant funding, ECU will instrument the drainageway to assess soil loss before and after the implementation of the practice. The project is expected to run through 2025.
