Dr. Stephanie Richards gave an oral presentation today at the annual Brunswick County Mosquito Control Program’s Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) Calibration Workshop in Bolivia, NC. Her presentation was titled, “Insecticide Resistance in North Carolina Mosquitoes: Interpretation of Data for Operational Use”. This is the fifth consecutive year that Dr. Richards have been invited to give a presentation at this workshop.
This type of practical outreach/training presentation strengthens relationships with mosquito control operators and managers across NC. Representatives from several eastern NC mosquito control programs, NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)/Division of Public Health, NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS) and pest control industry partners were also in attendance as presenters. The workshop is a 2-day training course, held from April 17-18, 2024, offered to all mosquito personnel in NC. Several of the attendees routinely send mosquitoes to Dr. Richards’ research team for use in their insecticide resistance studies and they are the beneficiaries of this work.
