September 15-21, 2024 is National Farm Safety and Health Week (NFSHW). The week is dedicated to raising awareness about the safety and health of people working in agriculture. This year’s theme is “Don’t Learn Safety by Accident”.
Since 1944, the third week of September has been recognized annually as NFSHW. This recognition has been an annual promotion initiated by the National Safety Council (NSC) and has been proclaimed as such by each sitting U.S. President since Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the first document. Over the years, the development and dissemination of NFSHW materials has shifted to the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS), which is the agricultural partner of the NSC and has been serving families and businesses in agriculture since 1997.
AgriSafe is hosting free webinars throughout the week on topics such as equipment safety, noise exposure prevention, suicide prevention, farmer training and confined space hazards.
