Dr. Jo Anne Balanay presented today as a 2023/2024 Scholar-Teacher award recipient in the Scholar-Teacher lecture series this academic year. The ECU Scholar-Teacher Award recognizes faculty members who effectively integrate research and/or creative activity with teaching. In the lecture series, the award recipients share about how they weave research and teaching together as important faculty roles and also provide a glimpse into their work. Dr. Balanay was introduced for her presentation as follows:
“Jo Anne Balanay builds synergy between her research lab and field work, teaching, and student mentoring — all focused on reducing health hazards in occupational settings. She and her students have used environmental monitoring and analytical methods to assess the extent of worker exposure and employ various control measures to reduce health hazard exposures and associated health risks, leading to several co-authored journal articles and research proposals focused on industrial hygiene.”
