Heidi Knecht: Featured Student for EH Research

Heidi Knecht is a Master of Science in Environmental Health (MSEH) student in the ECU Environmental Health Sciences Program.  For her thesis, she is currently studying how a sublethal dose of an insecticide (i.e., bifenthrin) can impact a mosquito’s vector competence, which is the mosquito’s ability to transmit a virus.  Her study investigates the interaction between mosquitoes, insecticide and Zika virus transmission.  Dr. Stephanie Richards is her thesis director.
