Megan Rhyne, MS Environmental Health and MA Health Education and Promotion student, is featured in the “HHP Graduate Research Spotlight”, wherein the College of Health and Human Performance (HHP) highlights the research work of a graduate student within the College. Dr. Stephanie Richards is her faculty mentor. In the article, Megan described her research project, which focuses on the impact of the Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) pyriproxyfen on Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. She explained why she choose this particular topic and identified her favorite part of the research. Megan hopes that, through her research, she will find that exposure to the IGR pyriproxyfen will reduce egg laying, egg hatching, and subsequent adult emergence among Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, and that comparisons can be done in the future to evaluate efficacy of pyriproxyfen on life table characteristics of other mosquitoes.
