BS Environmental Health Student Invited in 2022 Summer NEHA Internship Program

Adriana Cowell (BS Environmental Health and Public Health major) received an invitation to participate in the Summer 2022 National Environmental Public Health Internship Program (NEPHIP). The NEPHIP is a 400-hour (~10-week) paid internship opportunity that links environmental health undergraduate and graduate students from environmental health academic programs accredited by the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council (EHAC), with funded internship placements at qualified state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) environmental public health agencies. Previous NEPHIP interns worked across a range of environmental health programs on areas, such as food safety and protection, onsite wastewater, public swimming pools, rabies prevention, and private or onsite drinking water. Interns completed many different types of activities during their 10-week internship. The most common activities completed by interns were performing inspections, educating the public, maintaining databases or electronic information systems, engaging in partnerships with the community or other stakeholders, and responding to complaints.

NEPHIP is supported by the National Center for Environmental Health of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
