Pharrell Williams, multi-grammy winner and (in my opinion), musical genius, is currently being scrutinized due to his “controversial” album cover. At first I didn’t know where the general public was coming from, but, after taking a closer look (and surfing various social media websites), I realized what the issue was.
Are you ready?
Well, there were no African American women on his album cover.
There was, however, a representation of females from mixed backgrounds, but apparently this was not enough to appease critics.
Do you see this as a problem? Why do you think women feel disrespected when they are not represented in music or film? Is this issue much deeper than it seems? Cushundra Williams
