Creative Project- Secret Poem and Drawing

It’s a bit hard to read the poem from the drawing. So I posted it below.

SECRET

I always knew when it was going to happen

The air made a way of always letting me know

Heavy and stale

The air tried to take on the weight of the sadness it knew I would soon hold

Those long strong hands, that I once trusted, traveled up my thighs

Who knew that my innocence was not mine to keep?

He knew that I wouldn’t scream or call for help

The glaze over mother’s eyes wasn’t from lack of sleep

I made a habit of fixing my eyes and drifting away

High above the bed

In the corner of the ceiling was where I found solace

His familiar laugh filled the room

The scent of alcohol washed over me

You’re so tight”

Muffled and heavy sounds creaked through cracks in the walls

Breathing slowed

Descending from the ceiling

And back into my body

He whispers

Our secret

And leaves me alone in my crumpled body
