This article is about Jen Welter. She holds a master’s degree in sport psychology and a doctorate in psychology, but has recently made headlines for another accomplishment. This past NFL training camp, she became the first female coach to work with an NFL team. In regard to women coaching in the NFL, Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians, who brought her in said that, “The minute they prove they can make a player better, they’ll be hired.” The most notable concern among skeptics was that a woman may not be able to command the same respect from players as male coaches. The article discusses her experience and illustrates that at least in this case, those concerns proved to be unfounded.
