Members of the Ukranian feminist protest group, Femen, recently visited an Islamic conference in Pontoise, France. Two shirtless women, walked on to the stage shouting “Nobody enslaves me, nobody owns me, I’m my own prophet.” Coincidentally this interruption occurred at the same time that the conference was discussing the valuation of women, and efficacy of domestic abuse. It wasn’t long before a number of men ran up to escort the protesters away, and in at least one case, kicking the women after they had fallen. The two ladies were handed over to the police, and released after questioning. An investigation into the incident is still underway.
