I feel pretty – garbage or genius?

If you have social media you’ve probably seen some ad for Amy Schumer’s new movie, I Feel Pretty. There have been mixed reviews about the new movie, some reporting that it doesn’t even skim the surface of women’s problems, and others reporting that this movie is the kind of movie every woman needs to watch.

Personally I haven’t seen the movie but really want to. In case you haven’t seen any of the ads the movie starts with a women who seems to be self-conscious, when she is taking a spin class she falls and hits her head on the bike and when she wakes up she sees herself as this perfect, beautiful woman, and proves that confidence over appearance can really be what some women are missing. I think this movie is prefect for girls in our world who only see the Kardashians as role models.

I think Amy Schumer brings a lot of women’s issues to light in all of the work that she does and she is not ashamed of doing it either. Many people in Hollywood says she is too fat or too ugly but she hasn’t changed who she is to fit into Hollywood. She maintains who she is and is a role model for that.

I plan on seeing the new movie this weekend and will report back if my feelings are still the same or have changed.
