It has long been known that the treatment of women in many STEM fields including medical has been less than stellar, but another issue that I see getting talked about less is how the underlying cultural bias against women effects them as patients too. Many women have testified that they have been misdiagnosed or brushed off with health concerns in Manu situations where a serious diagnosis would have made a big difference. As this article also mentions for along time certain women weren’t even included in clinical trial. This kind of rampant negligence of women in the medical space has lead to many avoidable medical problems for people. In recent years society has been more observant in seeing these problems and thus more adept at addressing them leading to better care for female patients.
