The following is a story from NPR that discusses the barriers for Latina women regarding HPV prevention and treatment. The department of Health Education and Promotion at East Carolina University is currently researching ways to educate women as to the importance of yearly testing as well as vaccination against the strains of HPV that are shown to cause cervical cancer. This story is highly relevant to global women’s issues, as it discusses the cultural issues at play in regards to testing.
