This article is a very short one, but caught my attention because of the material we are reading in class. This article takes place in Lusaka. It is about a woman (Bwalya Mwewa) that went to the police station to file a complaint. Her complaint was against her husband. She was alleging that she had been beaten by him, and she had physical evidence to “prove it,” such as a swollen eye. The police officer there ended up beating her again. The claim that is being made is that the officer did not beat her; the officer said that it was by-standers that were passing by. What is your opinion on this story? Do you believe that this could be a case where the officers are covering themselves due to publicity? I am curious to hear your thoughts!
