This article was interesting to me because it is a positive one. I try to find research, articles, and books that will be able to give hope that the issue of domestic or gender-based violence is one that is not only on the mind of others, but that it is is an issue that is currently being addressed. I learned from this article that since 1946, the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women was created. It was designed to promote women’s rights politically, as well as economically, socially, and educationally. It gives people from every country a chance to speak for about 3 minutes to inform others what they plan to do to address the issue of gender-based violence in their own countries. They meet at the United Nations headquarters in New York and hopefully one day I will be able to go and listen to what they are doing to solve gender-based violence. What are you thoughts? Do you think that these meetings help to get rid of the problem?
