On friday a magazine in morocco was pulled from the selves and offline because of the controversial topic on the cover page. The front page of this magazine had a picture of “two men looking into each others’ eyes”, while the caption said, “Should homosexuals be burned?” The article said that the decision to pull the magazine was due to “strong reactions” from readers. The statement given was that the magazine was “not a political editorial that pushes a certain sensationalism or provocative topics that can offend the public”. Since homosexuality is illegal and people can be sentenced to 3 years in prison, my question is what was offending?
Was the topic of homosexuals on the front cover shocking and offending or was it the fact that the article was talking of killing them? I read over the article a few times, but I still cannot decide what exactly the magazine was apologizing for.
