This news on CNN’s website tells a story about a women named Cifuentes who experienced violence in Guatemala from her husband and lost her arm from a gunshot wound. The story explains how Cifuentes’ story was only one of many in their country. 10 out of 100,000 women are killed by gender based violence with no one thinking twice. Even though theres a current and past history of this kind of violence we do see progress in Guatemala. With many new organizations making a presence there, women like Cifuentes are able to escape their husbands.
Are organizations enough or do you think things will continue to change for the good without the changing of government policy?
