Catholic Women are more than “Strawberries on the Cake”

“Strawberries on the cake” was a statement made by the Pope towards some female Catholic scholars. Carol Costello feels that it would behoove the Pope to involve women more in the Catholic Church or else risk losing more women who call themselves Catholic. The percentages are low, especially for the younger generation, who call themselves Catholic and this will heavily impact the next generation of men but more likely the next generation of women. The Pope himself acknowledged that “Mary is more important than the apostles” yet the Church is slow in incorporating Catholic women in their activities. The writer would love to see some changes such as permitting marriages for priests and this will result in Catholic women connecting more smoothly to the Church. While there is some progress, further changes are necessary for Catholic women to associate more smoothly to the Church.
