This article addresses the hot button issue of sexual assault prevalent on college campuses. This article reveals that transgender and gender nonconforming students seem to be most vulnerable victims of campus sexual assault. A report done by the Association of American Universities found 17 percent of seniors experienced some type of sexual assault. The report, conducted across 27 universities found that 19 percent of gender nonconforming students were victims of sexual assault.

This report is being celebrated because of its inclusion of the TGQN community (those who identified as transgender, genderqueer, nonconforming, questioning). Nancy Deutsch, an associate professor who worked on the project, said that collecting data on this population was their first priority. The report based off a survey given to 150,072 students on 27 campuses found that “24.1 percent of TGQN undergraduates and 15.5 percent of TGQN graduate/professional students” were involved in sexual assault.
