This is a short article summing up an interview that Bernie Sanders gave with the Washington Post. Sanders self-identified as a feminist and pointed to his record and the stances he has taken on issues over his political career as evidence that he has exemplified “a commitment to fighting for women’s rights.” He says that he understands that many women want to see a woman elected president of the US and agrees that he would like to see that happen as well. He adds he would also like to see more women hold political office in general. However, he also makes a political distinction that the timing of whoever is elected president should correlate with that individual’s record, agenda, and ability to handle the important issues that are currently facing our nation. Obviously, He believes that for this election cycle, he is that candidate.
