Times are gradually changing academically as boys are less likely to pursue higher education in comparison to girls. We tend to think that young boys naturally are physically and mentally tough but that’s not the reality. Claire Miller points to recent studies that “Boys are more sensitive than girls to disadvantage. Any disadvantage, like growing up in poverty, in a bad neighborhood or without a father, takes more of a toll on boys than on their sisters.” These disadvantages could lead to boys taking on an image of being outwardly tough while internally suffering due to their insecurity of understanding what a man truly means. Due to this, studies from MIT have shown that its constructed and not inborn in boys to be sensitive to what happens in their lives.
