The British company Coexist will now give women time off when they’re menstruating and it will not be considered as sick leave. The director of the company said that it was a necessary move to counteract the taboos associated with menstruation.
Considering there is a portion of women who regularly are debilitated by their menstrual cramps, I view this as a positive move. Sick days are not infinite but if a woman cannot work due to how debilitating her cramps are, she’d very quickly run out of them. This gives women options towards how they can work around their menstrual cycles.
