Why Trump can’t speak out against abuse

The White House is yet again scramming to clean up a mess following Rob Porter’s resignation after abuse accusations from both of his former wives. While the White House’s plan to overshadow abuse talk with a focus on infrastructure plans may have worked, President Trump has unsurprisingly derailed those plans with his Twitter account. In the USA today article, the tweet from Trump shows he is taking a clear side on the issue of abuse. From Trump himself, “People’s’ lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation. Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused – life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?”

It is appalling that Donald Trump continues to support the abusers without so much as even an acknowledgement for the abused. However, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised. He has no choice but to side with the abuser; he is the abuser. He can’t speak out against abuse and sexual assault because he himself has engaged in those actions. The only real solution to this frustrating problem is the ability to use our vote. Will his repeated support of abusers cause a change at the upcoming mid-term elections in the Fall? I guess only time will tell.
