Today, the Smithsonian published an article about the need to memorialize historical women. The author notes that there are plenty of statues of male figures who have impacted history, but there are very few of women, and the ones that do include women are typically depicting emotion, not necessarily memorializing an actual figure. The author advocates for building monuments to historical women, especially the women codebreakers of WW2. I found the article to have some very valid points. How do you guys feel about building more statues in a time when many people are advocating for tearing down certain statues? Do you think building ones for women would cause any issues during this time?
