The most common factor is childhood trauma. Those who grow up around sex trade believe that is what is normal, leading them to continue in the cycle. A second reason is from foster care and group homes. It is said that group homes are where a high percentage of girls are kidnapped by pimps. The third is school because often they lack the resources and training needed to support the young girls. The author acknowledges that there needs to be more awareness around sex trade and that the social systems in place need to improve. We fail at protecting and providing the resources and support for our young girls.
