ILKIS Team Supports Imagination Library Enrollment

On June 5th and 6th, 2019, the ILKIS team attended NC Pre-Kindergarten registration in Greenville, NC to enroll children in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and to talk with parents about the program. The team spoke with parents about the program itself and also shared resources and tips to help parents engage with their children while reading.

Across the two days, the team talked with about 100 families who were already enrolled in the program. Families stated they had registered anywhere from 1 week to three years ago, at locations such as Vidant Medical Center, area elementary schools, Sheppard Memorial Library, and a variety of local events. Parent opinions about Imagination Library were overwhelmingly positive. Here is what some parents had to say about the book distribution program:

“It is an awesome resource that provides your child with books and other resources to help build and improve learning and reading skills.”

“Our kids really enjoy the books they receive from Imagination Library. They love getting the new books and getting mail is always exciting for them.”

“We love reading them! Great way to introduce reading and learning different things!”

“My child LOVES receiving his book in the mail. He frequently wants to get the mail himself in case there is a new book for him. He usually wants to “read” the book immediately upon receiving it.”

Also at the Pre-K registration event, the ILKIS team helped enroll 77 families (94 children) in Imagination Library. Newly enrolled children should receive their first book, “The Little Engine that Could,” in six to eight weeks.

If you live in North Carolina and have a child under the age of five, you can enroll in Imagination Library here.
