Well Installation at the Flood Lot

On Nov. 10, 2021, some of the WRC staff, faculty, and WaterCorps students got their hands dirty with a well installation at 10th St and College Hill (“Flood Lot”) to monitor groundwater alongside Greens Mill Run. The project is part of the growing network of sensors linking environmental monitoring across East Carolina University’s campus. The site has previously been used as a teaching site in Dr. Alex Manda’s CURE course, Introduction to Hydrogeology. Dr. Manda is also part of the TEAMS-UR Project which focuses on promoting team science and developing important skills through undergraduate research experiences.

WRC Direct Stephen Moysey and WaterCorps students Samson Strickland and Owen Bergquist assist in getting the well installed.
The team getting ready to install the well was led by Dr. Alex Manda who was helped by Scott Rose, Brian Hinckley, and Owen Bergquist.
