BDEV is the Banner development environment database. The purpose of BDEV is to provide an environment for testing software and developing solutions for problems. ITCS developers utilize this area for testing code without the worry of hurting business operations. Functional areas may request access to test without risk to other departments’ data.
The ability to use BDEV for software development enables the deployment to the production environment of robust software that contains as few bugs as possible. The development nature of this system usually means no third-party software (Xtender, Eprint, etc.) integration available. BDEV operates on the same equipment as production and provides a fast and convenient way to debug future programs.
